This course is designed to empower students with a comprehensive understanding of pivotal theoretical frameworks, dynamic debates, and compelling empirical evidence that illuminate the connections between the global green transformation and economic development in the Global South. Additionally, it delves into the influential role of public policy at both local and global levels, ensuring a well-rounded exploration of these critical issues. Rasmus Lema is full professor of economics at the University of Johannesburg. Rasmus has more than 20 years of experience in research, consultancy and teaching in industrial development. His areas of specialisation are sustainable industrialisation, technological learning and green transformations.

This course offers an in-depth overview of the latest changes in industrial organization and spatial dynamics driven by the global rise of digital platforms. It is structured through the perspectives of microeconomics, economic geography, and political economy, emphasizing regional industrial transformations and the regulation of markets where digital platforms have an increasing influence.
Jerome Vicente is full professor of economics at the University of Toulouse (Sciences-Po Toulouse).
He is a recognized specialist in industrial cluster theory and platform economy.
